Talks, navigation within text messages

Hello All, 
 
I do realize that it is possible to have Talks read text messages
line-by-line, spell the entire line  and by sscreen
 but was wondering if other forms of navigation are possible such as,
character and word navigation.
 I didn't mention sentence or paragraph navigation as those two structures
really don't exist in text messages. 
 
If it is possible to do character and word navigation, I would very much
appreciate an explanation as to how to do it.
