New Phone and Service

Hi Stephen,
Thank you for your reply. You mention many of the reasons why I am
investigating a new phone and possibly a new provider.
Is there a list of the 20 Symbian phones that may be of interest? I use
a PACMate and it would be really cool to use the Braille display for
sending text messages and browsing the internet, if that is possible.
If I can upgrade my Talks for less than buying Mobile Speak that would
certainly be a consideration.
I appreciate all the advice, thanks.
Keith

This is a hard question to answer and their is no correct answer. Being
you already have Talks; You
may want to stay with what you already have as far as the screen reader.
As far as a phone; You
could get the N75 from At&T and keep your existing plan and sign up for
another two year contract to
get the phone cheaper. Or you can buy a different phone not carried by
AT&T and have many more
choices of phone to use and not just the one Symbian based phone that is
still being made by Nokia
and sold by AT&T.
I would suggest that you buy the phone out side of AT&T and just moving
your existing Sim card from
the 6620 to the new phone and buying a Talks license transfer from a
Talks dealer. This would give
you.
1. A unlocked phone.
2. A unbranded phone that works better.
3. Doesn't have any of the AT&T stuff on it as far as shareware or
floatware or any other stuff to
slow down the phone.
4. Getting the phone as Nokia atended it to be put out.
Also by doing it this way; You will not be required to sign a new
contract and can switch cell
providers when ever you like and use the new phone on that network.
This will also give you the ability to choose from a good 20 plus
Symbian Nokia phones that support
the 850 and 1900 MHZ bands that AT&T uses.
Remember; All Symbian series 60 3rd Edition phones will work with either
Talks or MobileSpeak. And
both screen readers will give you a 30 day trial license on request.
That away you can trial both
screen readers and see what one gives you the needed information you
require and what functions you
use.
Their is no one best screen reader for most phones. It comes down to how
you use it and what you
want to do with the screen reader.
