No, Code Factory has not donated money or provided services to AFB at any
time. Neither has any entity associated with Code Factory.
Why did they give Code Factory the award? Hmmm, for the sake of those who
don't know our company and what we do, let's see:
1. Which company in the AT industry is the only one to have screen reading
and screen magnification products for not just Symbian phones, not just
Windows Mobile devices, but both?
Answer: Code Factory
2. Which company produced the first screen reader for Windows Mobile Pocket
PC phones and PDAs? The first screen reader for Windows Mobile Smartphones?
The first magnifier for Windows Mobile Smartphone? The first magnifier for
Windows Mobile Pocket PCs?
Answer: Code Factory
3. Which AT company has more than 400 mainstream devices listed as
officially supported and tested to work with its software?
Answer: Code Factory
4. Which AT company has screen readers with the greatest number of supported
text-to-speech engines and languages, even compared to PC screen readers?
Answer: Code Factory
5. Which AT company provides the only screen magnification application for
mainstream-based Windows Mobile devices, and the only magnification solution
for mobile phones that incorporates the very important feature of font
smoothing?
Answer: Code Factory
6. Which AT company is the only one to include complete Braille support in
their screen readers, in the sense that you are not limited to computer
Braille input but can type in contracted Braille, and use more than 20
Braille devices, Braille language translation tables as well as read in
uncontracted, contracted and computer Braille grades for each language?
Answer: Code Factory
7. Which AT company is the first to provide reliable access solutions for
CDMA phones, in addition to GSM and WCDMA, and that, unlike others who
followed suit, work even when the operating system of such phones are
upgraded?
Answer: Code Factory
8. Which AT company, for the past 5 years, have released no fewer than
seven software updates per year and have made all of them available for free
to existing customers?
Answer: Code Factory
9. Which AT company develops its own add-ons for mobile phones (e.g., Color
Recognizer, GPS product, DAISY Player, Braille eBook reader, and games),
designing them to meet the specific needs of the blind and visually impaired
so that the mobile device becomes more than just a communications and
notetaking tool?
Answer: Code Factory
10. Which AT company strives to create partnerships and alliances with phone
carriers worldwide to make their mobile access solutions more affordable?
Answer: Code Factory
And the list just goes on and on...

Asunto: Re: Code Factory Receives 2008 AFB Access Award!
Has code Factory or any entity associated with such paid AFB for consulting
services at any time during the past three years? Also, has code Factory
or any entity associated with such given any grant to AFB during the past
36 months?
Recently, AFB gave an access award to AT&T after an AT&T associated entity
gave AFB a grant a short time earlier.

Code Factory Receives 2008 AFB Access Award!
Mobile Speak and Mobile Magnifier recognized for providing unique eyes-free
access to mobile devices
Code Factory is very pleased that our pioneering work in making mobile
devices accessible has led to our being selected as one of the three
recipients of the 2008 Access Awards from the American Foundation for the
Blind. The Access awards are distributed annually to individuals and
organizations which are eliminating or substantially reducing inequities
faced by people who are blind or visually impaired. Previous recipients of
the award have included leading organizations in their field, like IBM, Sun
Microsystems, and Google.
The 2008 Access Award acknowledges Code Factory's work in releasing the
Mobile Speak and Mobile Magnifier line of products.
Available from http://www.codefactory.es/en/products.asp?id=16 , the Mobile
Speak product line includes the world-leading screen reader for mobile
devices, the first screen reader for the Windows Mobile operating system,
and the only screen reading solutions with complete Braille support that
can
be purchased for palmtop computers running Windows Mobile
Professional/Classic, Windows Mobile Standard, or Symbian series 60 as
their
operating system.
Available from http://www.codefactory.es/en/products.asp?id=47 , the Mobile
Magnifier product line includes the only magnification solution for Windows
Mobile devices and, like the Mobile Speak line, the only solutions of its
kind available for both Windows Mobile and Symbian devices.
"The past ten years have seen extraordinary progress in the use of mobile
computing", says Eduard Sánchez, CEO of Code Factory. "By ensuring that our
software remains the most advanced in its field, we have made it clear that
impaired vision is no barrier to accessing the best and most useful methods
of communication. Our products are unique in providing magnification,
speech, and Braille output for Symbian and Windows Mobile devices, as well
as in supporting the largest number of GSM, CDMA, and WCDMA phones in the
industry. This enables any person with a visual impairment, whoever and
wherever they are, to benefit from the best technology available. We will,
with the help of our users and partners, continue our record of innovation
for many years to come."
"In the most important sense", explains Greg Gladman, Code Factory's chief
technical officer, "we at Code Factory are honored every time one of our
customers tells us of something he can do with one of our products and a
mobile device that he couldn't do, or couldn't do as easily, before. We are
honored and pleased to accept this award as a public recognition of those
many conversations, and of the ingenuity and ability of our customers in
using mobile devices to their fullest potential."
Code Factory will be presented with the AFB Access Award at the 2008 JLTLI
(Josephine L. Taylor Leadership Institute) national conference. The
ceremony
will be held at 5:00 PM on April 4, 2008 at the San Francisco Airport
Marriott in Burlingame, California.
