Hi,

Guess what. My phone is unbranded. I just hooked it back to my computer
and ran the Nokia up dater and it up dated my phone and it came back up with
a different start up sound. Everything is wiped off of the phone but I have
a back up to restore my contacts and everything.

Hi Gwen. You must have your phone unlocked before you can get it unbranded.
So, if your phone is unbranded, it has to be unlocked. Hope this helps.

Brent, if you have a totally unbranded phone, can you still use it with
any
of the networks such as nokia, etc??? I am a bit confused by this... I
know
that t-mobile does not support my phone. I do have some of their features
such as my faves and we took a card from another phone and put it into my
phone. I know from this list that I have all the bluetooth capability and
some other things that apparently the cingular nokia n75s do not have. Can
you explain all of this a bit further. Thanks for the input...

They are not the same things. unlocked means that you can use your phone
on
any GSM service with any SIM card. Unbranded means that any operator
firmware like cingular or t-mobile has been removed and the generic nokia
firmware has been loaded on the phone.

I thought unlocked and unbranded were one in the same thing. I know that
there are some places in tampa, two shops that I know of, that were
mentioned in the newspaper when all of this branding versus unbranding
  issue
came out aht will, for a fee, unbrand or unlock your phone. I went with
an
unlocked phone in the first place so I would not have this issue. It was
more expensive but saved a lot of hassle, and, from what I have read on
  this
list,m my unlocked phone has more capability than the n75's sold by at&t
  or
cingular or whatever you call it...

I don't know of any place that does this. Sorry.

      Hi,

I already got the instruction. I was hoping that it could be done
somewhere else. I tried it but for some reason it didn't work so I
    stopped
before I messed up my phone. It's easy to do but I didn't understand
  why
    it
      didn't work for me.

No, it is something that is kind of do at your own risk. It is
    discouraged
by Cingular and that is why it is not readily available. If you want
to
know how or try to do this, go to google and search for how to unbrand
a
N75. I will not post instructions on this list because of the
  liability.

        Hi,

Are there places that can unbrand your phone for you if it's already
        unlocked?

Actually Gwen, you are not correct. By unbranding the N75 you can
go
  in
      to
the settings and change the phone to be in GSM mode always. It is
the
    3g
that is draining the battery. Wehn setting it to GSM mode, it will
    extend
the battery life considerably. Give you about twice the battery
life
    that
you have when it is branded.

Hi, I don't think an unbranded n75 is going to have a longer
battery
      life
than a branded one. I just wound up buying a couple of adapters
and
      leave
        ne
plugged in at work... Since I cannot have my cell on at work, I
plug
    it
      in
when I get there and I have no problems. Will check out your other
        question.

My N75 is branded. How can I extend its battery life?

Also, can you access the other features such as notes or calendar
    while
          talking on the N75?
