OK, this discussion really fascinates me. In the past year I've looked past
my own self-made boundaries to find a variety of Internet and phone
solutions I've never known to exist for a totally blind person. I've heard
commercials for an Internet radio from C Crane, but always thought this is
probably an inaccessible type of device. So I have three simple questions
about the S60.
(1) How is this radio made accessible? What kind of "screen-reader" can
one with no eyesight use to program and/or select stations?
(2) What format(s) of stream will the S60 play? I've noticed Internet
audio streams can come in a wide variety of flavors, including Windows Media
Player, RealPlayer, Winamp, Quicktime, and just plain old MP3. Will the S60
play all these? or does one have to add plugins?
(3) I understand every URL corresponds to a purely nuerical IP address.
But often, I find that Internet streams played through Windows Explorer in
their own window cannot be added to one's bookmarks. So if JAWS, for
example, does not read full information about the address of a Web page
that's playing audio, how do I get the precise IP to program into an
Internet radio?
Please excuse me if these questions seem simplistic. This is just an area,
much like MobileSpeak, that I don't know about from first-hand experience.
Thanks, and have a good weekend.
