Built-in TTS vs MobileSpeak/Talks

have you checked the reviews on Access World magazine? In the past year,
they have evaluated the accessibility of LG phones. the evaluations are
not of the latest models, but the access is likely similar.
You may not need to pay the $50 for the LG phone. If the carrier is
offering phones with voice output features at a cost higher than phones it
offers to sighted people, I would contact the company's accessibility
representative and request the accessible phone for the same price and
terms as inaccessible phones. this often means the phone is free. if the
carrier won't cooperate, I would then approach the LG access representative
and ask them to either re-engineer the cheap phone so it incorporates voice
output features, as required by federal guidelines or provide you with a
phone that provides you with the access to the functions of the cheap
phone. Manufacturers generally respond by providing a free phone. I took
this approach and received a free accessible phone from Motorola. The
names, addresses, and telephone numbers of each telephone company access
representative can be found on the FCC website.
If the manufacturer doesn't cooperate, let us know and we can then discuss
next steps, which may involve filing a federal disability access complaint.
