Hi Joe:
Mobile phone screen readers give you much more access than built-in TTS's
do. For example, you can INSTALL MANY THIRD PARTY applications such as
Fring, Instant Messenger Plus, etc, and gain access to them right out of the
box. With BUILT-IN TTS's like those on the LG series, you are LIMITED TO
ONLY THE FEATURES offered to you by the phone manufacturer.
Although I've never PLAYED with any of the LG series phones, but I have read
copiously on the LG phones; I personally prefer phones usable on GSM
networks.
AT&T currently sells Mobile Speak for Symbian phones at $89; I have heard
that the company has a good deal for Mobile Speak Pocket and MSS as well.
However, my suggestion is that you call the company's National Center for
Customers with Disabilities at:
1-866-241-6568.
You may be required to sign some kind of a contract.
I'd let others weigh in and prvide better suggestions than I have done here.
Good luck with your choices and the decision-making process.
Sincerely,
Olusegun
