Hi. Yes. It can read incoming text messages as well as emails out of the box. That is primarily why I got this phone.
And yes, you can send text messages, but so far I haven't managed to get it to read my own messages back to me. But I haven't spent much time on it.
And yes, on the address book, if you select a contact, you can pick which number to dial, i.e. home, mobile, or work etc. and the phone reads those options out.
