Talks License?

Hello Stephen,
Well, I don't know if my words 1.5 years ago were not clear enough or
misinterpreted, but it wasn't Code Factory who decided not to use the
Nuance's technology in our software. Compared to competition, people will
clearly see that we are the ones who make it a point to give our customers
as many choices of TTS voices as possible: Fonix, Acapela, Loquendo, Nokia
built-in TTS, and others that support languages not covered by these TTS
providers.
Code Factory, however, kept it quiet and chose not to elaborate on the fact
that Nuance had banned us from using their technology, because we always
have the highest respect for any decisions (good and bad) that any of our
partners take.
However, we think it's rather unfair to see some people on mailing lists,
stating that Code Factory has decided not to allow its users to use the
Eloquence TTS as though it was our decision that led to the current
situation. We feel in cases like this, where the topic is brought up by
others and not by us, that we ought to step in and make it clear that it is
not true. We also believe it's time people should know that we have
approached Nuance, primarily because our customers asked us, regarding the
availability of Eloquence in our products, and so far, we have not received
any positive response. And this is true for our Symbian and Windows Mobile
product lines. As to why, people will need to ask Nuance, I suppose.
I personally find it really unfair for the AT community that a company
decides to prevent thousands of users from having a choice, but hey that's
how business works.
But I said and as we have demonstrated time and again, Code Factory has been
always known for providing users with the widest range of options when it
comes to supported phones and Text-to-Speech engines available,
and we will continue to do so, and partner with any company who has anything
to offer that will provide a best experience for our customers.
Eduard
CEO / Code Factory, S.L.

I recall hearing way back when Code Factory decided to not carry Eloquence
because the Talks screen
reader had it. Nothing about the license being pulled by Nuance. Just code
factory decided to no
longer carry it being Talks had it.
At least that is what I seem to remember Eduard saying about it. But that
was well over 1.5 years
ago and my mind may be playing games with me.
