Announcing a Low Traffic List for Accessible Phone Info

Jonathan,
What I think was missed by some folk was that the new list is one that can
be subscribed to without the need to worry about traffic levels, and without
the need of worrying to flick through perhaps hundreds of messages to ensure
that you've not missed any important announcements.
People can know that if something happens in the mobile world that they'll
find out, and then if they want to know more can use the traditional lists
to speak and confer with other users of those lists on those products.
The new list has a handy feature enabling users to submit info or things
that they think need covering. So there's no danger of something being
missed out.
For reassurance though, nobody is saying that lists such as yours, which are
extremely informative and well ran, should not exist anymore, or that there
is no need for them, simply that there are a range of users who don't want
the constant flow of e-mails, but who want the updates, for these this type
of list is helpful. Meaning that then if they want a discussion on the
matter they can then go through a list such as yours to debate that issue
further, but without the need of bothering the inboxes of those who didn't
want the extra conversation.
Hope that this in some way clarifies / puts the whole thing in prospective.
regards
Neil Barnfather

Hi Len, what flap exactly? Some subscribers wanted assurances that they
would not miss important information if they didn't subscribe to another
list. I see no flap, just a question that has now been answered.

The flap over all this is rather silly. Nothing is being taken away, and it
is certain that information of import will circulate freely among many
lists, including this one. This list was launched for those who prefer the
highlights rather than the discourse.
