Thank you Jonathan, that is why I joined this list. Some people call it
the talks users list but I've seen that that is not the case thanks to some
fine folk here.

Hi David and Richard. I am sorry that a few people who have replied have
failed to miss your point about subscribing to unnecessary lists, but I can
assure you that you can be certain that you will miss nothing whatsoever by
not subscribing to the announcements list. The fact is that whenever any new
phone or assistive technology for phones is released, those involved in its
manufacture want the message spread as far and wide as possible. We've gone
out of our way to invite vendors to be a part of this list, not just for
announcements, but if they wish, to participate in ongoing dialogue.
It is those who choose to subscribe to an announcements only list where only
a few have posting rights that are likely to miss out on plenty of gems, but
the upside for some is less traffic.
Monitoring the various lists as I do, this list has the widest range of
discussions about applications, and discussion on phone models. It is not
manufacturer specific, and it is not screen reader specific, nor is it
operating system specific. So you'll continue to get it all here. Those who
don't like user discussion, questions and answers etc, now have a choice
that will better suit their requirements.
Jonathan

no, I want it all thank you very much. I don't want to have to subscribe to
too many lists though so it would be helpful if the announcements are placed
here as well.

David,
Sorry, but the point was made in Len's message, there is to be no traffic on
the list as it is to be a one way message service, with only messages going
out one way, these will from what Len has said be limited in number.
Especially designed for those who want to keep up to date but with very
limited traffic to their inbox, by the sounds of it someone like yourself.

I hope the announcements will also be placed here for those who don't want
to be bogged down with yet another list.

Dear list members,
As many of you are aware, of late there has been much discussion
in favour of the creation of an announcement e-mail list.
I am delighted to inform you that after consulting with some of
the regular list membership, several key contributors have agreed
to contribute to a low volume, informative announce only e-mail
list.
The topics at present to be reported on include; New handset
releases, including their specifications and compatibility with
the various standard software installed by us as users. Software
developments and releases, including updates and release note
information, compatibility and where to download / purchase the
software.
Software will include Nuance's Talks and Zooms, Code Factory's
Mobile Speak and Wayfinder Access.
We will also announce other important developments within the blind
community which directly relate to cellular mobile handsets such
as the new KNFB Reader.
The list is not a discussion group, therefore traffic from the list
will be very light. This will provide an opportunity to fine out
what you need to know, without belonging to a busy list.
To subscribe you can send an email to:
information-subscribe at blindphones.info
or visit the list web page at:
http://www.blindphones.info/
We hope you will find this a valuable resource.
