Yes, the Pantech Duo from AT&T is a Smartphone running Windows Mobile 6
Standard edition, which means it has no touch screen. This device has a dual
slider form factor, so that if you slide along the length of the device,
you'll open the numeric keypad, and if you slide along the width of the
device, you'll open the QWERTY keyboard.
It is supported by Mobile Speak Smartphone which gives you access to the
dialer screen, call history, Internet Explorer, Office Mobile (Word, Excel,
PowerPoint), Messaging, Calendar, Tasks, Contacts, Windows Media Player,
Voice Recorder, File Explorer, Calculator, speed dial, voice tags, Profiles,
phone settings, Quick List of applications, Com Manager, and many more. You
can install several 3rd-party applications also fully compatible with Mobile
Speak Smartphone including Microsoft Voice Command, Skype for Windows Mobile
(internet telephony), AvantGo (a sort of newsreader for downloading online
content and accessing it offline anytime), Audible Player and Audible Air
(for audio books from www.audible.com), SlovoEd Explanatory and Multilingual
Dictionaries, PhatNotes note-taking application, and the list goes on.
Mobile Speak Smartphone also comes with its own additional functions such as
a Braille Reader for accessing Bookshare and BRF files with or without a
Braille display as mentioned in my other post, more commands in Windows
Media Player, user pronunciation dictionary for any number of TTS voices and
languages you wish to install, and a review cursor for accessing
applications not yet fully compatible (e.g., you can access programs like
Orneta Reader for opening PDF files and Olive Tree Bible software with some
use of this review cursor. To read more about Mobile Speak Smartphone, go to

-On the windows mobile phones I have, I'd say the battery life is
-reasonable, all of them are made by htc. I have an htc s310 running
-smart hal, I also have a tornado, an i-mate smartflip and an htc
-mteor that I use mobile speak smart phone with. I'd say the battery
-life is comparable to the nokia phones. Of course, it depends on
-what task you're doing, if you use the 3 g network, it will drain
-the battery much faster. ----- Original Message -----

-> Hi Virgie, I have a friend with one who complains constantly
-about the poor
-> battery life, but that does seem to be an issue with a lot of
-Windows Mobile
-> phones.
